As a conscientious car owner, you’ve probably heard your fair share of vehicle maintenance tips.
In fact, there are so many out there that it’s hard to tell which ones to follow, and which ones to toss aside.
We hope that with our many years in the auto repair biz, we can clear some of them up!
So without further ado, here are the most common car maintenance, debunked:
Myth #1: You should let your car warm up for several minutes before driving.
Fun fact for you:
Modern engines actually warm up faster when you’re driving.
And the quicker your engine warms up, the quicker it reaches its maximum efficiency — thus delivering the best performance and fuel economy.
So get in the car, start it, and drive!
Myth #2: Premium fuel is better than regular-grade fuel.
When it comes to fuel, premium doesn’t necessarily mean better!
Most vehicles run just fine on regular-grade fuel — and using premium won’t make it run any better.
As long as your manual doesn’t say your vehicle requires premium fuel, you can avoid the extra cost.
Myth #3: You need to flush your engine coolant with every oil change.
Nowadays, most car manuals suggest changing your coolant every 60,000 miles or five years — whichever comes first.
But if you’re topping off the coolant reservoir and it’s still low, you might have a leak.
So if you suspect trouble, just give us a call or swing by the shop — we’re more than happy to help :)
