One of the most common car questions we get asked is:
How often should I get my car serviced?
And it’s an excellent question!
Consistency is key when it comes to proper car care.
Getting your vehicle serviced regularly can profoundly impact its lifespan — and help you avoid costly car troubles!
For instance, if you put off maintenance for too long, you risk damaging your vehicle — and potentially having to call AAA at an inopportune time.
And nobody wants that ;)
As a rule of thumb, you’ll want to take your car in for an oil change seasonally.
This will keep your engine running smoothly and prevent friction and heat from building up under the hood.
For a more comprehensive inspection, you’re looking at once per year or once every 12,000 miles — whichever comes first.
During these inspections, your mechanic will assess your vehicle’s operating systems and their components for signs of wear.
Some of the parts they’ll look at are:
- Spark plugs
- Filters
- Lights
- Hoses
- Timing belt
- Fuel system
- Tires
- Brakes
- Radiator
- Steering
- Transmission
Following a consistent maintenance schedule will keep your vehicle running efficiently, and ensure that you get the most use out of it as possible.
