You’ve fallen down the car repair rabbit hole, and now you’re faced with a question:
Should I go with an auto mechanic or an auto technician?
And what’s the difference anyways?
Auto mechanics handle the — you guessed it — mechanical aspects of auto repair.
They specialize in hands-on work, such as changing oil, tires, lights, and brake pads.
They’re also equipped to work on a wide range of vehicles.
On the other hand, auto technicians specialize in the electronic components of vehicles.
They’re trained to work with the computers in your car and their corresponding equipment to diagnose and solve problems.
Their expertise tends to be more specific in certain brands, makes, and models.
That said, for standard repairs and mechanical tune-ups, an auto mechanic is probably your best bet.
But if your car’s computer system is out of whack, an auto technician is the one to call.
If you still can’t decide, don’t worry!
