Believe it or not — just because smoke isn’t billowing out from under the hood, doesn’t mean your car is in good shape.
So how do you know if your vehicle is in trouble — and what can you do to prevent it?
If your car is harder to start, slow to accelerate, or making unusual noises, you probably have some damage that needs to be tended to.
As a rule of thumb, car trouble is commonly caused by one or more of the following:
- Poor engine lubrication
- Worn combustion parts
- Worn spark plugs
- Dirty engine coolant
- Leaking coolant
- Oil starvation
So what can you do about it?
Well, if you want to prevent problems and keep your car on the road, follow these three golden rules:
- Don’t ignore the ‘check engine’ light
- Get your oil changed regularly
- Schedule routine maintenance tune-ups
