Do you feel pain in your teeth when eating hot or cold foods?
Do you feel pain when eating sweet or sour foods?
Yeah, {{contact.first_name}}, sensitive teeth are a real…
Well, we’ll let you fill in the blank there ;)
Anyway, it is worth ‘being sensitive’ to the causes of sensitive teeth and how we can avoid the problem and mitigate the symptoms.
One of the possible causes of sensitive teeth is erosion of tooth enamel – the hard, outer layer of our teeth.
When plaque and tartar build up, high acid contents dissolve this outer layer.
Brushing your teeth regularly can prevent this, but only when done correctly:
Pay attention to how hard you brush your teeth.
Brushing too hard near the gum line can, like the bacteria we are trying to fight, erode your enamel and ultimately do more harm than good.
That said, acidic foods also cause the erosion of tooth enamel.
Things like soda, candies, or even high sugar carbs are all culprits.
Try to replace them with products such as fiber-rich fruits and veggies, plain yogurt, cheese, and milk.
These will help keep your mouth moist and provide support in the battle against tooth decay.
Oh, and let’s not forget about teeth grinding:
If you have an issue grinding your teeth at night, we recommend contacting us to have a mouth-guard fitted to your teeth.
It may not be pretty, but it works ;)
