“I’m eating the right foods pre-workout. I am working out with proper technique. But what do I do after my workout?”
Great question, {{contact.first_name}}.
Just as you warm-up before your workout, you’ll want to cool-down after it.
This will save you from feeling light-headed or dizzy directly after your warm up.
Here’s the low-down on the coolest cool-down routine:
Give your body a good ol’ stretch.
During your workout, muscles warm up and expand.
As they cool down, stretching will help to reduce soreness and speed up the recovery process.
After your stretch, drink a cool glass of water, or maybe three.
You’ve heard it a million times before – but your body releases a lot of moisture through all that sweat and you need to make up for it.
This next one may also seem a bit obvious, but change your clothes.
Even if you are in a rush – it's important to put on some dry clothes to avoid the risk of breakouts and skin infections.
Complementing this with a cool shower is not only a great way to chill out, but will also speed up your muscles’ rate of recovery and decrease inflammation.
Lastly, you’ll want to eat the right post-workout snack.
We recommend low-fat greek yogurt with fruit or berries, whole-grain waffles with low-fat greek yogurt and almond butter, or tuna on whole wheat bread – to name a few.
As a rule, keep your snack low in calories, with the right amount of carbs, proteins, and healthy fats.
Try following these tips after your next work out, and you’ll see just how good you feel – and how good you look! ;)
