Whether you are new to working out or if you’ve been doing it for a while know this:
There is always more to learn.
And we want everyone who comes to our gym to be on the cutting-edge ;)
So, here’s an overview of what we think you need to know before your next visit.
Not all workouts are created equal.
In fact, there are many different types of workout, and each serves a specific objective
For example – cardio training.
Consisting of both aerobic and anaerobic exercise, the main goal of cardio training is to elevate your heart rate.
Steady state (aerobic) cardio exercises are meant to keep your heart at a steady, albeit elevated, rate.
With aerobic training, we stress a consistent pace.
Anaerobic cardio exercises, on the other hand, involve both high-intensity and interval training.
Here you are trying to push the envelope through short sprints of energy.
Now, consider weight training.
Weight training comes in four forms:
Hypertrophy, which is aimed at increasing muscle mass and size
Muscular endurance, aimed at improving your muscles ability to exert themselves over time
Muscular strength, aimed at improve the max amount of forces your muscles can deliver
Cardio training, which uses weights and resistance bands to improve your aerobic energy
When most people think of weight training, they think of hypertrophy.
However, these other forms of weight training are also popular and deliver wonderful results.
Finally, we also have flexibility training, which is so much more than aspiring to the ‘splits’.
Flexibility focuses on improving your musculoskeletal health.
If you skip your stretching routine, you are doing a disservice to your range of motion, the effectiveness of your other workouts, and you are putting yourself at increased risk of injury.
Workouts that combine cardio training, strength training, and flexibility training are going to yield maximum results.
And now that you know what they all are, we encourage you to come down and action them – with our help, of course, should you need it :)
