Everybody loves a good back rub.
But have you ever received a facial massage?
If not, {{contact.first_name}}, we think the info in this email will be enough to convince you to change that.
So...
What's the deal with facial massages?
Facial massages involve the stimulation of pressure points on your face, neck, and shoulders.
Lotions, oils, or cleansing balms are normally used during the process, as well as face rollers or flat ‘gua sha’ tools, which promote healthy skin while relaxing the muscles in your face.
Here are some of the main types of facial massage:
- Lymphatic drainage
- Shiatsu
- Reflexology
- Swedish
- Gua sha
- Remedial
- Sinus
- Acupressure
These are administered using a variety of techniques, such as cupping, knuckle kneading, folding, vibrations, tapping, jacquet pinching, or effleurage.
One of the most popular reasons why people opt for such treatments is for their anti-aging/ dewrinkling effects.
Research has shown that when coupled with anti aging cream, facial massages bolster the cream's effects on wrinkles, skin sagging, and texture.
But it doesn't end there!
Facial massages have also been shown to relieve sinus pressure, congestion, and general discomfort, in cases not compromised by infection.
Although more research is needed to determine the true extent of their powers, many people believe that facial massages are also fantastic at reducing acne – particularly when utilizing olive oil!
Now, let's get to the most exciting part – how to do it yourself at home:
First, ensure that your hands are washed and clean.
Apply a small amount of product to your hands (serum, oil, or cleansing balm) so that your fingers can slip over your skin easily.
You can develop your own routine based on the move you like best, so here are a few techniques to try:
- Rub your temples using a circular motion
- Starting at your chin and moving towards your forehead, massage the sides of your face using your palms and fingertips, then slide back down again
- Using your ring fingers, press into and move from the inner to the outer corner of your brow bone, then do the same under your eyes
- Starting at the center of your brows, press then glide up towards your hairline, then move down towards the temples
- Pinch your eyebrows starting at the outer corner and working your way in
- Use your knuckles to press into your note, then move across your cheeks towards your ears
Try these techniques and your face will be feeling fantastic in no time!
