Contrary to popular belief, Yoga isn’t just about doing headstands.
It’s a collection of techniques and exercises that build our mental and physical strength.
These techniques vary in intensity and difficulty, but even the lowest intensity practices can have immense benefits.
With regular ‘practice of these practices’, these benefits include:
- Increased strength, mobility, balance and flexibility
- Increased mental and physical energy
- Pain relief
- Reduced stress
Given the endless types of Yoga practices and techniques, we understand that it can be a bit intimidating at first.
So, if you’re curious about Yoga but worried you might not be flexible enough, we have the perfect beginner pose to stretch out your skills ;)
The Mountain Pose:
Start by standing with your big toes barely touching and your heels slightly apart.
Then press into all four corners of your feet: big toe, little toe, right side heel, left side heel.
As you push into your feet, notice how doing so engages your entire leg and keeps those muscles active.
Now take a deep breath and roll your shoulders up and back, releasing them down, so your shoulder blades rest toward each other and your neck is long.
Take a few deep breaths here, and close your eyes if you’d like.
And there you have it!
Regardless of your approach or level of expertise, if you practice consistently, you’ll feel better from head to toe – and, remember, we are always here to help should you need it!
