People often start physiotherapy to treat injuries, restore mobility, and reduce pain.
Or because they’ve spent one too many nights stuck on the floor.
Some cases present clear indications that you should start physiotherapy.
Here’s our top two:
First, you strained a muscle.
A strain occurs when you tear or overstretch a muscle.
Everyday movements — like getting out of bed or bending down to tie your shoelaces — can cause muscle strain if you move wrong.
Strained muscles often cause swelling, weakness, spasms — and, of course, pain.
Physiotherapy can treat those issues and strengthen your damaged muscles.
This will put you in the best position to avoid future injury.
Second, you sprained an ankle, knee, or wrist.
Unlike a torn or overstretched muscle, a sprain occurs in the ligaments that connect your bones together.
Your joint is swollen, moving it is painful — or you may not be able to move it whatsoever.
Rest, ice, and elevation are the first steps to treating a sprain.
But once the pain relents, stretches and exercise are crucial.
Physiotherapy can get you on the right track to a full recovery :)
