We often like to talk to you about the things you can do when buying or selling your house.
Today, we’d like to take a more reflective turn, and discuss the practices of real estate marketing – a riveting topic, and one we hope will help inform the purchase of your next home.
Back in the 1980’s, real estate agents had only one option for advertising their listings…
Print – the good ol’ fashioned newspaper, to be precise, where we would wage war with each other for a premium spot in the classified section.
Nowadays, of course, we’ve graduated to the internet, and while this transition has brought with it an extraordinary amount of white noise, our best practice remains the same:
We display listings in the hope that potential buyers will take interest in our listings and reach out.
How creative we can be, however, in the implementation of these practices has known no parallel before our time.
Examples may include e-brochures passed out among fellow agents to build rapport and broaden reach, or a fully optimized website that not only tells your story but enables prospective buyers to connect with the home of their dreams.
Social media, too, is a powerful vehicle for exposure, and has contributed perhaps most decisively to the realtor’s departure from print.
Everyone is there, so we have to be too.
All this to say, however, that despite the new tools realtors now have at their disposal for growing their practice, we continue to be one of the few industries that still appreciates the effect of an appropriately timed direct mail campaign –
If everyone else is marketing to your audience through technology, there are fewer to compete with in an actual mailbox – right?
Anyway, thanks for hearing us out –
