A question we get asked often is:
What are the different types of yoga, and which one is best for me?
And, honestly, it’s a fair question!
Although different styles of yoga have distinct methods and practices, they all share the same goal: unity.
Your goals and fitness levels will have the biggest impact on the style of yoga you choose.
Some yoga practices to consider are…
- Hatha Yoga, which challenges your flexibility and strength.
- Ashtanga Yoga, which improves your balance, breathing, and coordination.
- Bikram Yoga, which uses high heat and intensity to increase stamina and tone your muscles.
There are many different styles of yoga, such as fast-paced vinyasa flows, slower restorative practices, and even unconventional options like goat yoga.
But don’t let all of the options overwhelm you!
Finding the perfect class is all about skill level, not the type of practice.
If you’re a newbie, the best place to start is a beginner class in the style you’re most interested in.
That way, you can learn the fundamentals, take it slow, and move comfortably at your own pace.
Yoga practices themselves are a terrific form of mental and physical exercise, regardless of what your goals or intentions are for starting.
