Matt didn't fail his way into ProfitEngines. He sold his way into it. PracticeBloom was the successful outcome, a multi-million dollar medical-niche agency that made the Inc. 5000 list before he sold it in 2024.
The problem was what came after the wire hit his account: no team, no systems, no client base beyond a small carve-out group written into the sale agreement. He'd built and scaled an agency once already. Now he had to prove it wasn't a fluke, with less than he started with the first time.
A consulting business that couldn't hold its clients
Before ProfitEngines found its footing, Matt leaned on consulting work with other agencies. It paid the bills but it didn't stick. Consulting clients came and went by nature, and he found himself pulled into other people's operational problems instead of building his own. He eventually walked away from the coaching work entirely to focus on ProfitEngines.
A content model clients were built to resist
The Content OS system, ProfitEngines' subscription content engine, sounded simple: produce hundreds of pieces of content a month for clients. In practice, most clients didn't want to show up on camera or hand over source material. Building the systems to extract usable content out of camera-shy business owners took far longer than building the content itself.
Starting the acquisition engine over from nothing
The referral and word of mouth pipeline that fed PracticeBloom for over a decade didn't transfer with the sale. ProfitEngines had to build a new one, mostly through cold outreach and direct calling, aimed at a completely different opportunity: AI lead generation for local businesses that had never worked with him before.
"We've had to build everything from scratch all over again. It was difficult to remove myself from the problems surrounding building a new agency while doing coaching. So I gave up on the coaching." — Matt Coffy
Matt didn't rebuild PracticeBloom. He built something more modular. ProfitEngines sells in layers, starting with content and adding whatever a client's business actually needs on top of it, rather than forcing every client through one fixed package.
The offer structure:
Content OS ($1,500/mo) – the proprietary content engine and the foot in the door for most new clients
Chatbot / AI voice and text ($199/mo) – conversational AI sold standalone or bundled in
Facebook ads + HighLevel management ($499/mo)
Facebook + Google ads + HighLevel management ($899/mo)
SEO ($500/mo)
Each layer stacks on top of HighLevel as the operational backbone. The same system that runs a $199/mo chatbot client also runs the 50-location VC-backed group integrating AI voice and chat into their internal systems, a scale Matt says wouldn't have been possible without HighLevel doing the connective work between products.
"It's whatever the business needs. We stack the offer like Lego bricks based on their requirements." — Matt Coffy
One year after starting from a fraction of his old client base, Matt has rebuilt ProfitEngines into a $ 40K-a-month recurring business.
The clearest proof point isn't the top line. It's what happened inside one client's business. ProfitEngines took them from losing $10,000 a month to clearing over $100,000 a month in profitability in eight months, while their revenue grew from $100,000 to $500,000 a month over the same stretch.
That result, built on the same Content OS, ads and HighLevel stack sold to every client, is now attracting accounts an agency his size wouldn't typically land, including a VC-funded group operating across 50 locations.
